An Ode to the Pujo - [Original Poem]

If you open your eyes,
in any part of the street,
bit by bit, your eyes will feel a change.

If you walk straight,
while looking down at your device,
chances are you'll hit a bamboo pole
or two.

A city under construction,
year after year,
constructed and destructed,
with a finite existence.
The City of God.

As the humans start working,
at the orders of god,
to build a home everywhere,
each one unique,
a home to the same goddess's family,
each telling the same story.

Of the win over evil,
a devil put to death.
The goddess is furious,
yet beautiful and calm.
The devil dark and ugly,
Says the story of the winner,
and we celebrate the death.

As the city of Maa Durga
slowly comes to light,
all the believers and worshipers,
rush to see her eyes.
Maybe though,
they are tired of the same story,
and all they want to see,
is the interior design.

In the dark she's lit up,
and so they come to see.

In some days she's in the sea,
sunk or dissolved, a slow death.

Not forgotten, ever present,
in her permanent temple.

The City of god has disappeared
to return the next year.

It's common, and she agreed. -- [Original Poem]

She ran, and they ran after her.
It's common, they said.

She's exclusive, and he wants her
It's common, they said.

Of course she's not human,
she's a goddess, they said.
Must act like one,
conform as such.
And It's common, they said.

Shouldn't earn, she's too good for that;
just marry a man!
He'll keep you happy and secure,
which you can't do yourself.

Eat less, be a skeleton, be beautiful, they said.
that's the way you will get a man to buy you, they said.

Be a product irresistible,
and be rewarded;
The brain is unimportant.

And it's all common, they said.

She's beautiful, she's awesome.
She's got fatter don't you think? Eww.
She's so ugly, she doesn't deserve him.
Oh heavens!

Superficial appearance is all that matters, They said.
And it's all very common, they said.

To prevent Rape - Kill the Evil.

In the Light of the recent Delhi Rape case, What are we, the shameful citizens of India doing ? An initiative has been taken by a few and spreading fast, of putting up a 'Black dot of Shame' As the profile pictures of people on various social networking sites as well as on mobile messengers, like Whatsapp. The Aim here is to increase the awareness among the general public about Rape in general and the Shame and cruelty associated with it. But how Aware are we really ?

Instead of showing that you care, by putting up the 'black dot of shame' as the profile pictures, like any other trend that catches on fast,  why don't we all take a more drastic step ? What this society needs is not a profile picture, or a status on Facebook, but a realization of Oneself.

To prevent Rape, Kill the evil - Inside YOU. Lets feel the Shame, curse the 6 men who brutally raped a 23-year old girl, but before that, lets all look at ourselves and take a pledge, to incinerate the evil inside of us, be the person who, when looks at himself in the mirror, can be proud to be who he is. Lets all pledge, to be in control of ourselves. This is what society needs, Kill the evil, start from your own. Give a thought to it, change yourself - change society.

End by Asking a questions to yourself, be honest and don't lie to yourself. :

After she was thrown off the bus, why did no one turned up to help her ? had you been there, what would you have done ? - If you think you would have done the same, take a pledge to remove the selfish demon in you.
